Inspired by female medieval mysticism in Europe, this year's Countdown Calendar is celebrating the incredible wisdom and ingenuity of female writers and theologians who challenged orthodoxy and convention. While inspired by Christian women writers and thinkers, this is by no means celebrating a specific religion but rather honouring the ability of these women to make important philosophical, theological, and mystical interventions in a world they were so disinfranchised from. This theme draws from my years studying theology, and my love and interest for mysticism and medievalism.
The colour palette shall be earthy, natural, and peppered with hints of rich jewel tones.
Each Countdown Calendar will contain 5 full sized 100g skeins in your chosen base. One for each week of December, plus the final skein to open at the end of the year, Christmas, Winter solstice - whenever you choose to celebrate.
There is also the option to add a unique screen print, created by the wonderful Spouk Print, as well as a tweed project bag to complete your countdown!
Base options are Yaldi Yak Sock or Mirknen:
Yaldi Yak Sock - 70% SW Merino, 20% Yak, 10% Nylon. Fingering Weight: 400m per 100g.
Mirknen - 40% BFL, 40% Shetland, 20% Alpaca. Non-superwash. Fingering weight: 350m per 100g skein.
Please note this is of course a pre-order and will be shipped in November to insure delivery in time for the beginning of December regardless of your geographical location.

Important Information when purchasing our yarns.
When purchasing hand dyed yarns, we recommend you purchase a sufficient amount of yarn for your project.
We sell handmade products that get produced in small batches. We always use the same recipes for repeatable colorways and work very precise measuring our materials. However, it's impossible to guarantee two skeins will ever look the same. With hand made products there is always some variation on the end product.
If you want a uniform result with the end product you are making, with knitting, crochet and weaving, alternate skeins once rows. If using fiber, you can mix and match some of the fibers as you go when spinning or felting.
When dyeing yarn we fully exhaust all pigments before going to the rinsing step. Despite the care we put into the rinsing process, mild bleeding is common in hand dyed yarn and if you have a skein with a bright or dark color, or it contains speckles, play it safe by rinsing the skein in cold water and some wool wash and let it dry before casting on.
This listing is for one (1) skein of yarn unless specifically mentioned otherwise. Photos of multiple skeins shows a comparison between yarn bases and/or skeins. Colorways may slightly vary depending on the screen due to your display settings.
